11 Jun 10 Six years ago vs Today USB Drive

Well, exactly six years ago, I bought a 128MB USB stick from transcend about US$40 and I happen to read this news today. The news is that Kingston is now going to produce world’s first 256GB flash drive. It is pretty awesome you put 256GB in your pocket when you walk around for sure, but the thing is, the capacity of flash drives are now getting real bigger and the price has been falling down. Nowadays, I could buy a 4GB stick for about $10 and It is not even easy to buy 4GB thumb drives nowadays.

I first witnessed 16MB USB thumb drive and now 256GB, It is amazing how things have changed because nowadays I see computers with 2TB hard-disk equipped. Sometimes, I am not sure whether it is completely necessary for all these things because I clearly think I don’t.Anyway, It is awesome to see rapid changes over the years and within a short period of time. Now, I am just happy with my 4GB USB drive which can do alot of things. :)

Google has just increased “Western Union Quick Cash” enable countries to 10 more. It was announced yesterday. I think it is pretty good thing Google has been try to establish in a global marketing aspect. So there are the 10 new countries that is just added to the list as of yesterday, 21 April, 2010. So, the lucky countries are Saudi Arabia, Croatia, Iceland, United Arab Emirates, Latvia, Lebanon, Slovenia, Tunisia, Moldova and Malta. With Western Union Quick Cash payment option, people will not wait several days to get paid since the clearing money at the bank is sometimes time consuming and mailing time. Besides, this option will not be charged you any money at all, which is also better than bank clearing, because with bank clearing checks, the bank will charge you some amount to clear as well.

But let me quote you what Google has stated,

”Please keep in mind these important points:

  • Payments will continue to follow our normal payment schedule and will be available for pickup at your local Western Union agent the day after they’re issued.
  • You’ll need to present a government-issued ID that matches your AdSense payee name when picking up your payment. If you need to update or correct the payee name listed in your account, please follow the instructions in our Help Center.
  • Right now, only individual payee names can receive payments by Western Union, not businesses.
  • Payments must be picked up within 60 days of issue, or they’ll expire and be credited back to your account.
  • Payments will be made in US dollars, but depending on your local Western Union agent, they may be picked up in your local currency.”

22 Apr 10 Microsoft OneNote

Today, I was just so busy with everything and suddenly I wanted to try Microsoft OneNote, because I think it is pretty cool program. I was pretty much skeptical with Microsoft applications, but now I needed to use them because of my profession, so that I get to get to know Microsoft Applications anyway. I actually like OneNote now because it is pretty useful. And yes, with the RPC call setup, I can actually post it directly to my blog as well. I have tested and I loved it.

So, basically OneNote is very convenient application that is helpful to me. I will try to write more blog posts in the future with this, However, I will have to adjust all my graphics and style to make this work first. And it’s also important to learn how this Microsoft OneNote blog capabilities will either help or not with SEO/SEM setups.

The best thing I like about OneNote is not required to worry about saving the data that I have typed; it has pretty fast catch up the things I type and pretty awesome features that can’t be found on many applications. Moreover, I pretty much love the fact that all the Microsoft applications can be attached and shared with OneNote.

So, do you use OneNote? If so, what is your take about this software? Do you blog with OneNote? Do you use exchange server/outlook sync with OneNote? There are heaps of questions I can come up with, for me, I am using and think I will keep using it in the foreseeable future.

 Thanks for reading.

20 Nov 09 Google WAVE Preview

Now, everyone’s been talking about Google WAVE and I am pretty sure everyone’s curious about it.

I have been using for a week now and I think it’s pretty good, not sure whether it would finally eliminate Microsoft Exchange server type businesses LOL. But yes, it’s quite handy for collaboration.

Expectedly, if they are going for open source, it will create more and more opportunities and chances for IT force to be reckoned with. I once used PHPDotProject and I liked it, WAVE is not really near what PHPDotProject does, but its massive speed and design are quite impressive for all of us. I use DotProject when I was implementing Fedora Linux Distro a few years back. I am hoping Google Wave will be able to offer us so many possibilities.

So, what are your thoughts about Google WAVE?  I think it’s good to know and use it. Because it could be something useful in the near future to all of us.

06 Nov 09 Ubuntu 9.10 Released Karmic

Last night, I was awake many hours of the night because I was installing Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic. It is absolutely beautiful OS with lots of easy administration. If you upgrade from 9.04 version, you will probably need 1-2 hours download and upgrade time to complete, but it is not much changed from 9.04 version. By the way, 9.10 was released on 29th October 2009.

So, if any of you are Ubuntu fan, it’s time to download or upgrade.

As nowadays, everyone seems to be have one netbook for each person, and you won’t feel left out, because you can also download ATOM version of ubuntu that is Ubuntu netbook remix and Ubuntu has optimized for your netbooks as well.

ubuntu910 300x224 Ubuntu 9.10 Released KarmicThe software package manager is better than ever. Firefox Mozilla starts with 3.5 version. Overall, it’s really worth using it. I am on the verge of leaving Windows if possible. Of course, most of the working environments, It is very hard not to use Ubuntu, however, upgrade and security point of view, I think Linux aces on top of everything.

So, have you tried Ubuntu yet?
